ABOUT THE COLLECTION - ‘A NEW WORLD’

Inspiration for the ‘A New World’ Collection came from the ending of a film: a royal woman washed upon the shore of an unknown world with few belongings. Picking herself up, she pieces together beached items in a variety of media: refined, rough, natural, polished, and industrial. She used all she could find which was capable of doing justice to her beauty. The names for each piece in the A New World Collection come from the names pulled from the records of Les Filles Du Roi, the term used to refer to the eight hundred young French women who immigrated to New France in the 17th century. Paying homage to the beautiful women who built Canada.
